Know Before You Go:
1. Comfortable Clothing: Wear light and comfy clothes and sturdy walking shoes. You’ll be exploring cities, climbing mountains, and walking in the desert, so dressing for comfort is important. In the evenings, a light jacket can be helpful.
2. Monkeys in the Cedar Forest: You might see monkeys in the Cedar Forest. It’s okay to offer them food, but keep a little distance. They are friendly but can get nervous if you come too close or try to touch them.
3. Desert Temperatures: The desert can be very hot during the day but cools down a lot at night. Packing layers, like a light sweater or jacket, is a good idea so you’re comfortable in all temperatures. Sandals are great for the day, but warmer shoes are better at night.
4. Bring Some Cash: Many of the smaller shops, street vendors, and local cafes don’t accept credit cards. It’s good to have cash with you for buying snacks, souvenirs, or enjoying meals. ATMs might not be easy to find in small towns.
5. Camel Ride Tips: Riding a camel in the Sahara Desert is an exciting experience. It might feel a little wobbly at first, but hold on tight to the saddle, relax, and you’ll get used to it quickly. Enjoy the slow pace and the views around you!
6. Protect Yourself from the Sun: The Moroccan sun can be strong, especially in desert areas. It’s important to use sunscreen, wear a hat, and have sunglasses to protect yourself. This will help you stay comfortable and avoid sunburn.
7. Drink Lots of Water: Always carry a water bottle with you and keep drinking throughout the day. The dry heat can make you thirsty quickly, so staying hydrated is key, especially when walking around or exploring in the sun.
8. Take Plenty of Photos: Morocco has so many beautiful places to see. From the blue streets of Chefchaouen to the golden sands of the Sahara, you’ll want to capture these moments. Make sure your phone or camera is charged and ready!
9. Local Vendors: You’ll come across local sellers offering handmade goods and souvenirs. They are friendly and may encourage you to look at their items. If you’re not interested, a polite “no, thank you” usually works well.
10. Limited ATMs: In the bigger cities, ATMs are easy to find, but in smaller villages, they can be rare. Make sure you have enough cash for meals, small purchases, and tips during your tour. This will save you from worrying about finding an ATM in remote areas.
Accommodation Options: Luxury Vs Standard
1. Desert Camps:
In the Merzouga Desert, you have two choices. The Standard Camp offers simple Berber tents with shared bathrooms. It’s basic, but you’ll enjoy a warm dinner and breakfast under the stars. If you want more comfort, the Luxury Camp has private tents with bathrooms, electricity, and a few extra comforts for a nicer stay.
2. Riads/Hotels:
In cities like Fes and Boumalne Dades, you’ll stay in Standard Riads/Hotels with clean and simple rooms that have a traditional Moroccan feel. If you prefer something more comfortable, you can pick Luxury Riads/Hotels, which come with modern touches like air conditioning, and some even have pools. Meals are included with both options during your stay.
Note: If these camps or hotels are full, we’ll find other comfortable and nice places for you to stay. We’ll make sure you still have a great experience in Morocco with good options that match the style of the tour.
